Lately, most days its true.  I have had a very hard time trying to stay in doors to get anything done.  You see we have moved, and our new place is amazing.  We were fortunate enough to move into a place that was loved by its original owners for almost 50 years! They left us with the most amazing yard for spring.  Every day I go out to see what plant has come to join the others.  Its a new season with new found motivation and creativity, if I can stay out of the garden long enough...

Lets see...The majority of 2012 I've been pretty busy getting into the swing of things with another little one.  She just turned one!

Haden Designs has been slow going but its getting amped up--Its been a very busy October!  Just finished some exclusive pieces for Judah Ross.  Oami, the talent behind Judah Ross, and I often pair our wares.  She has an amazing clothing line and what goes better with clothes but jewelry?  A few months ago we did a photo shoot with some of the pieces I made for her and her Fall/Winter collection.

Its always a must when visiting Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Flea.  Unfortunately, it started right after we moved in 2008--Probably a good thing for me.  During a recent trip we decided we would make a morning of it there, get our coffee and chocolate croissants and meet up with some good friends.   Still some of the same vendors from the last time, but there were a few new ones that really caught my eye. One in particular was the jewelry by FORT fort.etsy.com.  She had an amazing display draped with intricate chain crochet necklaces.  I was instantly drawn to her rough wood display which was complemented by the different textures and colors of chain.  She uses incredibly fine chain and crochets it to create an almost dripping look for some necklaces and also crochets it around crystals and and stones.  I of course had to buy one, and I have worn it daily ever since!

October so far has been, well, a bit busy.  Thanks to the feature in Country Living Magazine I have been kept very occupied making *chalkboard* necklaces.  Along with all of that I have been working on new designs for the holidays.  Right now Im into the cuff bracelet...the perfect addition to any fall or winter look.

one year anniversary

This weekends events at SparkCon will mark the 1yr anniversary of the *chalkboard necklace*!!!  Thats right, I introduced it at last years SparkCon here in down town Raleigh NC.  What started as a fun experiment and kind of a quirky play on SparkCons street chalk drawing event actually turned into something.  Little did I know what would come of these little bits of personalized jewelry, but it's been a great year for them!  They will be making a return appearance this year at bazaarSPARK.

What Fall has to bring...

I must say, Fall is by far the best time of year.  Looking forward to cozy clothes and boots, harvest soups, and of course a trip to the local Starbucks to get a Pumpkin Spice Latte-I cant wait! October is going to be a huge month for Haden Designs and its all starting with one of my Chalkboard Necklaces being featured in Country Living magazine!   Its a really great feature on personalized jewelry-and what better way to do so but with a mini chalkboard!
